Congratulations to Mill Pond's very own Author / Teacher Mrs. Tarby!

Kathleen Tarby, a fourth grade teacher at Mill Pond School, has written two historical fiction books for children.

The Diary of Lucy Resolute, is a story of twelve-year-old Lisa Conlin is excited when her family moves into a house that was a station on the Underground Railroad. When she makes a discovery that sends her on a journey to 1851, her eyes are opened to the past and the present. This is a story of family, caring for others, and connections through time, all set against the backdrop of events in the civil rights movement in 1961.

In October 1962, is a story about thirteen-year-old Lisa Conlin's life takes an unexpected turn when she meets Mrs. Halden, an older member of the community, and begins helping her with household chores. Mrs. Halden lives in a large, mysterious house, and she has a secret. When Mrs. Halden's niece, Rosa, comes to stay, Lisa and Rosa become friends as they learn about one another's lives and cultures and work together to solve the mystery in Mrs. Halden's house. All this occurs as both Lisa and Rosa are affected by world events during the Cuban Missile Crisis in October, 1962.
